Airborne 23: where US airlift meets Japan tactical insertion

Eight U.S. Air Force C-130J Super Hercules aircraft taxi along the runway during the elephant walk portion of the Airborne 23 exercise at Yokota Air Base, Japan, Jan. 31, 2023. The purpose of the operation was to demonstrate the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force capacity to employ large-scale airborne personnel and supply insertion, and to provide an opportunity for U.S. and Japanese forces to practice integrated operations together.
