U.S. Air Force Airman Aruna Cruickshank, a 35th Operations Support Squadron airfield management shift lead from Tampa, Florida, watches a C-17 Globemaster III, from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, taxis on the runway at Misawa Air Base, Japan, Aug. 8, 2017. One of the many tasks Cruickshank routinely conducts is driving behind "heavy" aircraft ensuring no foreign objects and debris are left behind when landing on the runway. Providing a clear and safe runway is vital for F-16 Fighting Falcon pilots to conduct their day-to-day mission while providing power projection in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
